Even before the baby is old enough to understand the meaning of Easter or know what an Easter basket is, there is an Easter bunny ready to deliver the first Easter basket. Even when the toddler is too young to walk well enough to search for Easter eggs the Easter bunny is making ready to leave a gift on Easter Sunday.
Are infants and toddlers too young to have an Easter basket? Parents try to be very cautious when planning Easter baskets for kids or should we say when talking to the Easter Bunny. After all, baskets can be hard and rough, even the best of them. The infant is too young to care about chocolate bunnies and the toddler is still too wobbly on his feet to carry a straw basket without fear of falling.
So, what is a parent to do? I mean, what should the parent tell the Easter bunny? Should an infant or toddler receive an Easter basket? The truth is that whether the child cares yet or not, the parents do.
One of the best Easter baskets for infants is a basket called My First Easter. It is designed for the very first Easter, realizing that infants don’t care about chocolate bunnies or creme filled eggs, that is if they even know about such sweets. Infants are still focusing on new sights and new sounds. My First Easter basket should be filled with goodies that only an infant can enjoy.
And, for the toddler there is nothing more friendly than something from Sesame Street. Why not think of a small plush Elmo Easter basket that is too soft to hurt the child should he fall on it and small enough for even the youngest wobbly walkers to carry.
After all, chocolate bunnies do not appeal to everyone — not yet. Remember, Easter baskets for kids should be age appropriate, especially for the youngest among us.
Of course, by the time the child is old enough to talk he is requesting a chocolate Easter rabbit.
